Ireland Heer hit two home runs and drove in seven as Broomfield defeated Douglas County 16-6 on Saturday. Heer homered in the fifth and third innings. Broomfield opened the scoring in the first after Heer singled, scoring one run. They added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Koko Pottorff hit into a fielder’s choice, and Jenna Kapelke doubled, each scoring one run. The Eagles added three more runs in the bottom of the third inning on four hits. Heer homered to center field, scoring two runs, and Ella Anderson grounded out, scoring one run. Broomfield scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Heer hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Maleea Taga singled, scoring one run, Elyana Braly singled, scoring one run, and Anderson singled, scoring two runs. Broomfield Varsity Eagles scored three runs in the bottom of the fifth on a home run to center field by Heer. Hailie Fiala earned the win for the Eagles. They surrendered eight hits and six runs (five earned) over six innings, striking out one and walking one.
Broomfield piled up 15 hits in the game. Kiley Wheaton and Heer were a force together in the lineup, as they each collected three hits for the Eagles. Braly and Taga each collected multiple hits. Broomfield had a strong eye at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Anderson and Malia Zufall led the team with two walks each. Wheaton and Braly each stole multiple bases. They ran wild on the base paths, amassing six stolen bases for the game and turning one double play.

Broomfield took Saturday’s game in dramatic fashion, with an 8-7 walk-off victory over Highlands Ranch. The game was tied at seven in the bottom of the seventh when an error scored one run. Kiley Wheaton collected three hits in four at-bats in the win. Wheaton hit a home run to left field in the first inning, doubled in the third inning, and doubled in the seventh inning. The Eagles opened the scoring in the first after Wheaton homered to left field, scoring two runs.
A single by Jenna Kapelke gave them the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fourth. Highlands Ranch flipped the game on its head in the top of the sixth, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 7-3 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to left field by Codray that drove in three. In the bottom of the seventh inning, The Eagles went back into the lead after Avery Gines doubled, Elyana Braly singled, Koko Pottorff singled, and Highlands Ranch committed an error, each scoring one run. Maleea Taga earned the win for Broomfield. The reliever gave up three hits and zero runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out none and walking one.
Ireland Heer led things off in the circle for the Eagles. They gave up six hits and seven runs (six earned) over five and one-third innings, striking out five and walking one. Broomfield piled up 13 hits in the game. Wheaton and Braly each collected three hits while Kapelke and Gines each collected multiple hits.

Mac Ferguson earned the win for Arvada West. The starting pitcher allowed three hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking none. Ireland Heer took the loss for Broomfield. The righty went three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs (three earned) on six hits, striking out three and walking three. Wheaton, Jenna Kapelke, and Elyana Braly each collected one hit for the Eagles. Wheaton led Broomfield with one run batted in. The shortstop went 1-for-2 on the day.

Broomfield Breezed Past Prairie View

Broomfield dispatched Prairie View Varsity Thunderhawks on Wednesday, 24-1.

The Eagles jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Lauren Hernandez grounded out, scoring one run, Avery Gines drew a walk, scoring one run, Arreana Rivera drew a walk, scoring one run, Lauren Martinez singled, scoring one run, Koko Pottorff was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Jenna Kapelke singled, scoring one run, Hernandez singled, scoring two runs, Ireland Heer doubled, scoring two runs, and Rivera singled, scoring one run.

Broomfield scored five runs on two hits in the top of the second inning. Brynlee Taga singled, scoring one run, an error scored one run, and Elyana Braly doubled, scoring three runs. They scored eight runs on nine hits in the top of the third inning. Pottorff singled, scoring one run, Taga tripled, scoring two runs, Kaitlyn Halliday singled, scoring one run, Lexie Chenoweth doubled, scoring one run, Braly singled, scoring one run, Ella Anderson doubled, scoring one run, and Pottorff singled, scoring one run.

Heer earned the win for the Eagles. The righty gave up two hits and one run over one inning, striking out three and walking none. Anthena Lee took the loss for Prairie View Varsity Thunderhawks. The right-handed pitcher went one-third of an inning, surrendering four runs on one hit, striking out none and walking two. Maleea Taga pitched two innings of zero-run ball in relief. They surrendered zero hits, striking out four and walking none. Broomfield piled up 18 hits in the game. Braly, Kapelke, Pottorff, and Taga each collected two hits. Braly went 2-for-2 at the plate as they led the team with four runs batted in. Kiley Wheaton, Pottorff, and Anderson each stole multiple bases, collecting six walks for the game. Broomfield stole 10 bases in the game. They were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Anderson made the most plays with four.

Broomfield Varsity Eagles outlasted the Ralston Valley Mustangs 5-2 on Saturday. Broomfield got on the board in the bottom of the third inning after Kiley Wheaton doubled, and Ireland Heer singled, each scoring one run. Ava Bachman doubled, which helped Ralston Valley tie the game at two in the top of the fourth. A home run to center field by Wheaton gave Broomfield Varsity Eagles the lead, 4-2, in the bottom of the fifth. Heer earned the win for the Eagles. The righty gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) over six and two-thirds innings, striking out seven and walking one. Myah Becker took the loss for the Mustangs. The Eagles piled up 10 hits in the game. Jenna Kapelke, Wheaton, and Lauren Hernandez each collected two hits for Broomfield Varsity Eagles. Wheaton drove the middle of the lineup, leading them with three runs batted in. The shortstop went 2-for-4 on the day. Hernandez stole two bases.
